Section A includes questions like: Who is the father of Human Geography?
What is Determinism? What is Possibilism?
What is Neo-determinism? You must clearly understand:
Determinism → Nature controls humans.
Possibilism → Humans can modify nature.
Neo-determinism → Middle path approach.
Assertion–Reason questions test whether you understand the relationship between concepts.
Example:
Technology helps humans overcome environmental limits.
Humans adapt according to environmental conditions.
Here, logic and conceptual clarity are important.
Unit II – World Population Distribution, Density and Growth
Section A tests: Definition of population density
Demographic transition stages Birth rate and death rate
Push and pull factors Population growth formula
You must remember: Population density = Population / Area
Natural growth = Birth rate – Death rate
You must also identify correct stages of demographic transition from diagrams.
Unit III – Human Development
Section A focuses on: Meaning of development
Difference between growth and development
HDI indicators Life expectancy
Literacy rate Purchasing Power Parity
You must know: HDI measures:
Health Education
Income
Section A mainly checks factual knowledge and basic understanding.
SECTION B – Short Answer Questions (3 Marks)
Section B requires explanation in paragraph form.
You must explain concepts clearly with logic.
Example 1: Difference between Growth and Development
Growth: Quantitative change
May be positive or negative
Development: Qualitative improvement
Always positive Improves standard of living
You must explain with examples.
Example 2: Factors Affecting Population Distribution
You must explain:
Physical factors (climate, relief, water availability, soil)

Example 3: Demographic Transition Theory

Map Work (Important Part)
The book also includes map-based questions such as:

Major canals
Leading producers of crops
Major mineral regions
In Section A, map identification may come for 1 mark.
In Section B, short explanation may be required.
