Mathematics – Class XI Student Support Material (2025–26)
Section A – Algebra (Sets, Relations, Trigonometry, Complex Numbers, Inequalities, P&C, Binomial Theorem, Sequences & Series)
Section A mainly focuses on building a strong algebraic foundation. It begins with Sets, where students learn about types of sets, union, intersection, complement, and Venn diagrams. This helps in logical thinking and problem-solving.
The chapter on Relations and Functions explains Cartesian products, domain, range, types of functions like identity, constant, polynomial, modulus, and greatest integer functions. Students understand how elements from one set relate to another.
Trigonometric Functions introduces angles, radian measure, trigonometric identities, and graphs. This topic strengthens analytical and formula-based skills.
Further, Complex Numbers and Quadratic Equations help students understand imaginary numbers and methods to solve quadratic equations.
Topics like Linear Inequalities, Permutations & Combinations, Binomial Theorem, and Sequences & Series develop counting techniques, expansion methods, and pattern recognition skills.
This section builds logical reasoning and algebraic fluency, which is essential for higher mathematics.
Practice Questions (Section A)
If A = {1,2,3,4} and B = {3,4,5,6}, find A ∪ B and A ∩ B.
Find the 10th term of an arithmetic progression whose first term is 3 and common difference is 4.
Section B – Coordinate Geometry and 3D Geometry
Section B introduces geometry in an analytical way.
In Straight Lines, students learn slope, equation of a line, distance between two points, and angle between two lines.
Conic Sections covers circle, parabola, ellipse, and hyperbola. Students understand their standard equations and graphical representations.
Introduction to Three-Dimensional Geometry explains coordinates in space, distance formula, and section formula in 3D.
This section connects algebra with geometry and helps students visualize mathematical concepts clearly.
Practice Questions (Section B)
Find the equation of a line passing through points (2,3) and (4,7).
Find the distance between points (1,2,3) and (4,6,3) in 3D space.
Section C – Calculus, Statistics and Probability
Section C introduces applied and analytical mathematics.
In Limits and Derivatives, students learn the basic concept of limits and introductory differentiation. It forms the foundation of calculus.
Statistics includes mean, median, mode, variance, and measures of dispersion. Students learn how to interpret data logically.
Probability explains random experiments, sample space, and calculation of probability of events.
This section connects mathematics with real-life applications such as data analysis and prediction.
Practice Questions (Section C)
Find the limit:

If a die is thrown once, find the probability of getting a number greater than 4.
