(SEM VII) THEORY EXAMINATION 2019-20 UNDERSTANDING THE HUMAN BEING COMPREHENSIVELY
UNDERSTANDING THE HUMAN BEING COMPREHENSIVELY (ROE-074)
B.Tech – Semester VII
SECTION A
(Attempt all questions)
(a) Two broad categories of units in nature
Units in nature can be broadly classified into living units and non-living units. Living units include plants, animals, and human beings, which possess consciousness and the ability to respond, grow, and reproduce. Non-living units include soil, water, air, metals, and other material entities that do not have consciousness but support the existence of living beings. This classification helps us understand the interdependence between life and the physical environment.
(b) Meaning of submergence
Submergence refers to a state in which a human being becomes excessively involved or absorbed in sensory pleasures, material objects, or emotions, losing awareness of the Self. In this condition, one’s actions are driven mainly by external attractions rather than inner understanding, leading to confusion and dissatisfaction.
(c) Activities comprising imagination of a human being
The imagination of a human being comprises activities such as desire, thought, and expectation. Desire represents what a person wants, thought refers to the process of evaluating or planning to fulfill the desire, and expectation relates to the outcome one hopes for. These activities continuously influence human behavior and decision-making.
(d) Four dimensions of a human being
A human being exists in four dimensions: the Self, the Body, Family, and Society. The Self represents consciousness and understanding, the body is the physical instrument, the family provides emotional and value-based nurturing, and society enables participation, cooperation, and coexistence. Harmony in all four dimensions leads to holistic well-being.
(e) Love and its reflection in relationships
Love is the feeling of deep care, respect, and commitment towards others without expectation of return. It reflects in relationships through trust, affection, mutual respect, and a sense of responsibility. Love strengthens bonds and ensures harmony in family and social interactions.
(f) Self as central to human existence
The Self is central to human existence because it is the source of understanding, values, and purpose. The body acts according to the direction provided by the Self. When the Self is guided by right understanding, actions become harmonious, resulting in happiness and fulfillment.
(g) Prosperity as part of continuous happiness
Prosperity refers to the feeling of having more than enough physical facilities to meet one’s needs. It is an essential part of continuous happiness because material sufficiency supports physical comfort, while right understanding ensures mental peace. Both together contribute to a content and stable life.
(h) Transformation of imaging in the Self through contemplation
Imaging in the Self gets transformed through contemplation by conscious evaluation of one’s thoughts and desires. Contemplation helps distinguish between temporary pleasure and long-term happiness, gradually aligning imagination with right understanding and leading to clarity and inner stability.
(i) Meaning of determination
Determination is the firm commitment to live according to right understanding and values despite challenges. It reflects consistency in thought and action and plays a crucial role in achieving harmony within oneself and with others.
(j) Application of Right Understanding in utilization of sense organs
Right Understanding guides the appropriate use of sense organs by ensuring that they are used for nurturing the body rather than indulgence. This prevents overuse, misuse, and abuse of senses, thereby maintaining physical health and mental balance.
SECTION B
(Attempt all questions)
Difference between the dimension of Thought and Realization
The dimension of Thought involves conceptual understanding, reasoning, and mental clarity about values and principles. Realization, on the other hand, refers to the lived experience of these principles in daily life. Transformation occurs when thought is translated into realization through practice, self-verification, and continuous reflection, leading to consistent right behavior.
Human Conduct and its components
Human conduct is the expression of thoughts, feelings, and understanding through behavior. It consists of right understanding, right feelings, and right actions. A harmonious human conduct model in metro cities requires ethical living, mutual respect, responsible use of resources, and sensitivity toward social and environmental concerns. Such conduct promotes trust, cooperation, and sustainable development.
SECTION C
(Attempt all questions)
(a) Whole existence with units in four orders
The whole existence consists of units organized into four orders: Material Order, Plant/Bio Order, Animal Order, and Human Order. The material order forms the physical base, plants provide nourishment, animals contribute balance, and humans bring consciousness and responsibility. All four orders are interconnected and coexist in space, ensuring continuity of existence.
(b) Unguided thoughts leading to obsession
Unguided thoughts often arise from uncontrolled desires and expectations. When these thoughts dominate the mind repeatedly, they turn into obsessions. Such obsessions lead to stress, competition, violence, and social imbalance. Understanding this process helps in addressing modern social problems like consumerism, mental health issues, and environmental exploitation.
(c) Activity of comparing while purchasing garments
When purchasing garments without right understanding, comparison is based on brand, price, or social status, leading to dissatisfaction. With right understanding, comparison is based on need, comfort, and utility. This approach results in rational decision-making, contentment, and responsible consumption.
