(SEM II) THEORY EXAMINATION 2023-24 SOFT SKILLS
This document contains the complete B.Tech (Semester II) Theory Examination Question Paper for Soft Skills, Subject Code BAS205, for the academic year 2023–24. SECTION A — Short Answer Questions (2 marks each)
This section includes seven concise questions on vocabulary building (synonyms & antonyms), grammar transformations (suffix usage), difference between commonly confused words, meaning of TED talks, intensive vs. extensive reading, paralinguistics in communication, and types of stress such as eustress and distress. These questions test quick recall and fundamental communication concepts.
SECTION B — Analytical & Descriptive Questions (7 marks each)
Students attempt any three questions. The section covers:
Rules of Subject–Verb Agreement
Types of listening
Tools to create coherence and emphasis in writing
Features of body language
Difference between hearing and listening
This section helps assess analytical thinking, descriptive writing, and understanding of communication frameworks.
SECTION C — Long Descriptive Questions (7 marks each)
Each part requires students to attempt one question from given options. Topics include:
Types of sentences with examples
Word-formation processes (compounding, conversion, affixation)
Importance of note-taking
Content sequencing in speaking
Notice writing & letter writing (practical communication tasks)
Modes of speech delivery
Importance of audio–visual aids
Stress management techniques
Qualities of a good leader
These questions assess detailed understanding, practical communication skills, and the ability to express structured answers.
To give a sense of the style and difficulty level, here are two sample questions extracted from the paper:
Sample Questions
“Give appropriate word as directed: Enormous (Synonym), Initiate (Antonym).” — tests vocabulary enhancement skills.
“Explain the types of sentences with example for each type.” — evaluates grammatical knowledge and clarity in written communication.
These sample questions represent the overall pattern of the paper, which includes a blend of grammar, writing skills, communication theory, and personality-development topics.
