(SEM III) THEORY EXAMINATION 2025-26 UNIVERSAL HUMAN VALUES & PROFESSIONAL ETHICS
SECTION A – Short Answer Section
This section contains short conceptual questions related to human values, ethics, self-awareness, and relationships. These questions test the basic understanding of human aspirations, values, and harmony in life and society.
Question 1: What are the two basic aspirations of every human being?
Answer:
The two basic aspirations of every human being are:
Continuous Happiness (Sukh) – A permanent state of satisfaction and peace.
Prosperity (Samriddhi) – The feeling of having enough physical facilities for a comfortable life.
Both are necessary for a happy and meaningful life.
Question 2: What is the difference between belief and understanding?
Answer:
| Belief | Understanding |
|---|---|
| Based on assumptions or external influence | Based on self-verification and reasoning |
| May change easily | Stable and consistent |
| Often comes from tradition or authority | Developed through knowledge and experience |
Understanding is considered more reliable than belief.
Question 3: Distinguish between Consciousness Unit and Material Unit.
Answer:
| Consciousness Unit | Material Unit |
|---|---|
| Living entity (human being, animals) | Non-living matter |
| Has feelings and awareness | No feelings or awareness |
| Capable of understanding and decision making | Only follows physical laws |
Example: A human is a conscious unit, while a stone is a material unit.
SECTION B – Long Answer Section
This section requires students to explain human values and ethical concepts in detail. It focuses on understanding happiness, human consciousness, and the role of self in life.
Question 1: Distinguish between Happiness and Excitement.
Answer:
Happiness:
A continuous and stable state of satisfaction.
Comes from understanding and right relationships.
Long-lasting and peaceful.
Excitement:
Temporary emotional pleasure.
Often related to sensory experiences.
Short-lived and unstable.
Therefore, sensations and excitement cannot provide continuous happiness because they depend on temporary external conditions.
Question 2: “Self is the Seer, Doer and Enjoyer, while the body is only an instrument.” Explain.
Answer:
According to human value education:
The Self (I) is the conscious entity that experiences feelings, thoughts, and decisions.
The body is only a physical instrument used to perform actions.
Example:
When a person decides to speak, the decision is made by the self, but the body (voice, mouth) performs the action.
Thus, the body acts as a tool while the self controls actions and experiences.
Question 3: Define Reverence. Explain the difference between competition and excellence.
Answer:
Reverence:
Reverence means having deep respect and gratitude towards nature, people, and life.
Competition:
Focuses on defeating others.
Creates jealousy and stress.
Excellence:
Focuses on self-improvement.
Encourages growth and harmony in society.
A harmonious society promotes excellence instead of unhealthy competition.

Answer:

Importance of trust:
Builds strong relationships
Reduces conflicts and misunderstandings
Creates harmony in family and society
Without trust, relationships become weak and unstable.
Question 2: What are the comprehensive human goals?
Answer:
The four comprehensive human goals are:
Right Understanding – Correct knowledge about life and values.
Prosperity – Adequate physical facilities.
Fearlessness (Trust in society) – Living without fear in society.
Coexistence with Nature – Harmony with environment and living beings.
These goals help establish harmony at individual, family, and societal levels.
