(SEM II) THEORY EXAMINATION 2018-19 PROFESSIONAL ENGLISH

This document contains the complete and authentic B.Tech (Semester II) Theory Examination Question Paper for Professional English (KAS-204) for the academic session 2018–19.
It is a 100-mark, 3-hour university examination designed to assess a student’s competence in English communication, technical writing, workplace communication, vocabulary skills, grammar accuracy, and presentation abilities.

SECTION A — Short Conceptual Questions (10 × 2 = 20 Marks)

This section contains ten short-answer questions that test fundamental concepts of technical and professional English.

These questions check a student’s clarity of basic communication concepts and correct use of English in professional settings.

SECTION B — Descriptive & Analytical Questions (Any 3 × 10 = 30 Marks)

This section evaluates descriptive writing, grammar competence, vocabulary usage, and practical communication skills.
Students must answer any three questions.

How effective presentation skills can capture attention.

Homophones

Using pairs such as hear/here, loose/lose, steal/steel in meaningful sentences.

Notice Writing

Writing a formal notice for a blood donation camp.

Concord (Subject–Verb Agreement)

Correcting sentences with improper agreement.

Workplace Communication

How communication skills support career growth and teamwork.

This section measures writing skills, clarity, grammar accuracy, and workplace communication effectiveness.

Each subsection contains two choices, and students answer one from each.
