UNIVERSAL HUMAN VALUES & PROFESSIONAL ETHICS – Full Question Paper
TIME: 3 Hours | MAX MARKS: 70
This question paper evaluates a student’s understanding of self-awareness, human relationships, harmony in nature, ethical living, professional conduct, and holistic human development.
The exam checks both conceptual clarity and the ability to apply UHV principles to real life.
The question paper is divided into three sections, each assessing a deeper level of understanding.
SECTION A – Short Conceptual Questions (14 Marks)
This section contains 7 compulsory short-answer questions, each carrying 2 marks.
The aim is to test foundational understanding of human values.
Main Concepts Covered:
1. Four Dimensions of Human Being
Students must list the four interconnected aspects of human life—Self, Body, Relationship, and Society/Nature.
2. Meaning of Preconditioning
Understanding how beliefs, culture, and environment influence our thoughts and behavior.
3. Consciousness Unit vs Material Unit
Differences between the Self (which feels, understands, decides) and the Body (material, needs physical facilities).
4. Conflicts Due to Lack of Natural Acceptance
Instances of disharmony when desires are guided by external influences rather than innate values.
5. Feeling of Care vs Guidance
Care relates to nurturing and well-being; guidance is about helping someone make the right decisions.
6. Meaning of "Complete Value" in Relationships
Understanding trust, respect, affection, and other feelings that make a relationship whole.
7. Definition of Nature
Nature as the coexistence of all units—material, plants, animals, and humans.
This section checks basic definitions and clarity of key terms.
SECTION B – Descriptive & Understanding-Based Questions (21 Marks)
Students must attempt any three questions.
These questions assess deeper reflection and the ability to connect human values with daily life.
Topics Covered:
1. Holistic Development & Role of Education-Sanskar
How physical, emotional, intellectual, and ethical growth completes a person.
2. Problems When Needs of Self Are Mixed with Body Needs
Conflicts, stress, dissatisfaction when material things are mistaken for inner happiness.
3. Reverence & Excellence
Difference between wanting to be excellent and wanting to be special; how reverence builds harmony.
4. Four Orders of Nature & Mutual Fulfillment
Material order, Plant order, Animal order, and Human order — interacting in a complementary manner.
5. Essence of Ethical Human Conduct
Relationship between values (truth, respect, trust), policies, and character.
This section evaluates a student's capacity to analyze and interpret UHV concepts.
SECTION C – Deep Analytical / Application Questions (35 Marks)
This section has five units, and the student must choose one question from each unit.
These questions test deep understanding, self-reflection, and real-life application.
C1 – Self-Exploration & Happiness
Option A – Process of Self-Exploration
Students must explain self-observation, verification on natural acceptance, and give a personal example.
Option B – Senses Cannot Give Continuous Happiness
Critical evaluation of sensory pleasure vs long-term inner happiness and how to ensure continuity of happiness.
C2 – Self & Body Interaction
Option A – Self as Seer, Doer, Enjoyer
Explaining the Self as the decision-maker and body as an instrument.
Option B – Activities of Imagination in the Self
How imagination works and how it becomes uncontrolled without right understanding.
C3 – Human Relationships & Evaluation
Option A – Right Evaluation & Respect
Meaning of evaluating humans based on inherent qualities, not competence.
Option B – Comprehensive Human Goals
Right Understanding, Prosperity, Fearlessness, and Co-Existence; and what happens when these are not identified.
C4 – Nature, Units & Coexistence
Option A – Natural Characteristics & Interaction
How to interact harmoniously with the four orders of nature.
Option B – Chart of Units in Nature
Drawing and explaining material, plant, animal, and human units; and identifying one's role in coexistence.
C5 – Professional Ethics, Society & Education
Option A – People-Friendly & Eco-Friendly Production Systems
Examples from Indian history such as Khadi, Ayurvedic practices, handicraft ecosystems, etc.
Option B – Framework for Humanistic Education
Proposing changes in modern schooling to emphasize values, compassion, and right understanding.
Purpose of This Examination
This exam aims to ensure students can:
Understand the human being as a coexistence of Self and Body
Develop clarity about relationships and harmony
See their role in society and nature
Practice ethical decision-making in personal and professional life
Move beyond materialism to sustainable happiness
Promote harmony through right understanding and right living
Become responsible and values-driven engineers
This paper tests awareness, reflection, and application, promoting a holistic, ethical, and human-centered worldview.
