(SEM III) THEORY EXAMINATION 2023-24 ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING

This question paper is designed to evaluate the student’s understanding of the fundamental principles of Electronics Engineering, covering semiconductor physics, diode applications, transistor operations, analog circuit analysis, operational amplifiers, and modern measuring instruments. The question paper is divided into three structured sections, ensuring comprehensive assessment of conceptual clarity, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills.

Section A contains seven short-answer questions, each carrying 2 marks, to test the student’s basic understanding of semiconductor devices, field-effect transistors, biasing techniques, clipping and clamping circuits, op-amp applications, and the role of digital voltmeters.

Section B consists of five descriptive questions, out of which any three are to be attempted. Each question carries 7 marks and requires detailed explanations on topics such as PN junction behaviour, full-wave rectification, BJT configurations, differential amplifiers, and DVM operation. This section focuses on deeper comprehension and the ability to describe circuits, characteristics, and applications.

Section C contains seven analytical or problem-oriented questions, where the student must attempt any one question from each pair. Each part carries 7 marks. These questions assess advanced understanding through explanation of breakdown mechanisms, voltage multipliers, clipper–clamper analysis, JFET & MOSFET characteristics, op-amp parameters, and measurement techniques using DMMs and CROs.
