(SEM III) THEORY EXAMINATION 2023-24 UNIVERSAL HUMAN VALUES AND PROFESSIONAL ETHICS
This question paper is designed to evaluate a student's understanding of the fundamental principles of Universal Human Values (UHV) and Professional Ethics, focusing on both conceptual clarity and practical application. The paper is structured into three sections—A, B, and C— covering core themes such as human behavior, ethical living, harmony in relationships, societal wellbeing, professional responsibility, and the holistic development of the self.
The questions follow a progressive difficulty pattern, beginning with short, conceptual questions in Section A, analytical and explanatory questions in Section B, and application-based or reflective questions in Section C. Students are expected to demonstrate their ability to reason, analyze situations, differentiate between human needs, understand ethical dilemmas, and apply value-based thinking to personal and professional life.
SECTION A – Conceptual Understanding (14 Marks)
This section contains 7 short-answer questions, each carrying 2 marks.
It assesses basic definitions and fundamental concepts such as:
Domains of education and their complementarity
Conflicts arising from lack of natural acceptance
Difference between prosperity and wealth
Excellence vs. competition
Meaning of nature and coexistence
Humanistic management criteria
These questions test the student’s foundational understanding of UHV principles.
SECTION B – Analytical & Descriptive Questions (21 Marks)
This section requires students to attempt any three questions out of five, each carrying 7 marks.
The questions demand detailed explanations, reasoning, and examples. Topics include:
Differences between prosperity and wealth
Sanyam & Swasthya relationship
Feelings such as care, guidance, reverence, gratitude
Harmony between material and living order
Ethics in professional environments
This section evaluates the student's ability to apply concepts to real-life situations and interpret human behavior through value-based thinking.
SECTION C – Application & Critical Thinking (35 Marks)
Students must attempt one question each from five subsections (Q3 to Q7).
Each question carries 7 marks.
These questions are reflective and application-based, requiring deeper understanding. Topics include:
Holistic development and role of education
Self-exploration and preconditioning
Sources of imagination and their impact
Harmony in the self and in nature
Human goals and societal alignment
Ethical human conduct
Coexistence and activities in the four orders
Educational reforms for humanistic growth
This section examines how well students can internalize and apply human values to personal, professional, and societal contexts.

This exam aims to ensure that students:
Develop sensitivity towards human relationships
Understand the importance of ethical conduct
Learn to identify correct human goals
Attain clarity on harmony in self, family, society & nature
Recognize the role of values in professional life
