(SEM III) THEORY EXAMINATION 2022-23 UNIVERSAL HUMAN VALUES
This question paper is designed for students studying Universal Human Values (UHV) or Human Values & Professional Ethics under the B.Tech curriculum. The purpose of the examination is to evaluate the student’s understanding of self-exploration, human conduct, harmony in relationships, harmony in nature, and the ethical foundations essential for responsible living and professional practice.
The course aims to help students develop clarity about themselves, their aspirations, their goals, and the interconnectedness between Self, Body, Family, Society, and Nature. This question paper tests the learner’s ability to internalize universal human values such as trust, respect, affection, care, guidance, gratitude, and love, and apply these values in both personal and professional life.
The exam covers foundational concepts including:
Objectives of education and sanskar
Human consciousness and the activities of the Self
Distinction between needs of the Self and the Body
Desires, thoughts, expectations, and their classifications
Harmony at individual, family, society, and nature levels
Understanding human relationships and mutual fulfilment
Concepts of natural acceptance and experiential validation
Four orders in nature and their interdependence
Justice in relationships and ethical values
Process of evolving from the deluded self to the pure self
Professional ethics, responsibilities, and humanistic development
The paper is divided into three major sections (A, B, and C) to ensure a comprehensive evaluation:
Section A – Conceptual Clarity (20 Marks)
This section contains short-answer questions that test the student’s awareness of basic terms such as glory, care, constituents of physical order, levels of harmony, types of desires, and transformations needed for self-development.
Section B – Descriptive Understanding (30 Marks)
Students must attempt any three questions that require explanations, comparisons, and interpretations related to value education, definite vs indefinite conduct, human relationships, production systems, and the four orders in existence.
Section C – Applied Human Values (50 Marks Total Across 5 Questions)
Each question has two options, requiring students to apply concepts in real-life contexts. Topics include:
Mutual fulfilment in relationships
Natural acceptance & experiential validation
Need of Self vs need of Body
Justice and its elements
Differentiation in relationships
Interdependence of the four orders
Process from deluded self to pure self
Meaning of swa-tva, swa-tantrata, swa-rajya
Issues in modern professional ethics
Overall, this question paper encourages students to engage deeply with the principles of humanistic living, understand their role in society, and adopt ethical behaviour consistent with universal human values, both in personal life and in professional settings.
