(SEM III) THEORY EXAMINATION 2017-18 UNIVERSAL HUMAN VALUES & PROFESSIONAL ETHICS

Section A – Short Conceptual Questions (14 Marks)

Meaning of trust, with example
Definitions of Sanyam (self-restraint) and Svasthya (health) and their relationship
Meaning of education and sanskara, and how sanskara follows education
Meaning of profession, and why ethical competence is needed in profession
These questions check basic clarity of concepts that form the foundation of human values and ethical living.
Section B – Descriptive Questions (21 Marks)
Students must attempt any three out of five questions. These require detailed explanation of human values, feelings, and coexistence:
Meaning of values, difference from skills, and how values & skills complement each other
Activities of imaging, analyzing, and selecting/testing, with diagrams & examples
Explanation of the feelings of care, guidance, glory, reverence, and gratitude
Ways to enhance harmony in the human order with the other three orders in nature, plus programs for implementation
Chart of categories of units in nature, showing coexistence in space, and understanding one’s role in existence
This section evaluates the student’s ability to connect human behavior with universal harmony and social well-being.
Section C – Long Analytical Questions (35 Marks Total)
Section C contains five long questions, each with two subparts, and students must attempt one part from each question. Major themes include:
Q3 – Happiness, Prosperity & Wealth
Critical examination of current notions of happiness and prosperity
Difference between prosperity and wealth, and their relationship
Q4 – Realization, Sensation & Harmony
Activities of realization and understanding, leading to inner harmony
Short-lived nature of sensory pleasure, and how attachment leads to misery
Q5 – Society, Intention & Competence
Basis of an undivided society or world family
Difference between intention and competence, and how confusion arises
Q6 – Four Orders of Nature & Human Responsibility
Why the three orders (material, plant/bio, animal) are mutually fulfilling, but human order is not
Explanation of conformance across four orders
Q7 – Value Education & Ethical Leadership
Suggestions to make value education more effective
Ethical steps for a manager to promote ethics in a workplace with prevalent unethical practices
These long questions test deep understanding of values-based living, ethical improvement, harmony, and responsible behavior in society.
