The final question asks students to explain content creation, ensuring basic familiarity with modern communication tasks such as writing, digital content production, and information structuring. Section A ensures that students have a strong foundation before progressing into deeper communication topics.

Section B contains five descriptive questions, each worth 7 marks, and students must attempt any three. These questions require thorough explanations and examples. One question asks students to describe the basics of communication and voice dynamics, covering aspects such as tone, volume, clarity, pitch, pace, and non-verbal cues. Another question focuses on how to write and present expert technical lectures for engineering professionals, requiring structured explanation of topic selection, audience understanding, content organization, and delivery techniques. A key question in this section asks students to outline the process, preparation steps, and structure needed to present an innovative business idea for fundraising, which includes identifying the audience, drafting the pitch, preparing visuals, and presenting value propositions. Another question requires students to write seven differences between tact and intelligence, emphasizing interpersonal sensitivity, decision making, emotional control, and communication methods. The section also includes a question about content creation for social media, specifically through email, webinars, and podcasts, reflecting how modern communication tools are used in professional environments.

Section C contains the long-answer analytical questions divided into several subsections (Q3 to Q7). In each subsection, students must attempt one question, each carrying 7 marks, evaluating deeper understanding and application of communication theories and practices. The first subsection (Q3) asks students to describe the flow of communication in a team-based organization, using pictorial representation. Students must illustrate how communication moves vertically, horizontally, diagonally, or informally within teams. The alternate question asks students to explain the benefits of the 7 Cs of business communication—clarity, conciseness, completeness, correctness, consideration, courtesy, and concreteness—along with real-world examples of effective application.

The next subsection (Q4) contains a question asking students to evaluate the steps and importance of a Statement of Purpose (SOP) for higher education as part of an admission application. Students must explain how an SOP reflects academic goals, professional motivations, achievements, and suitability for a program. The alternative asks students to write a resume for the post of Trainee Engineer for L&T Solutions, Mumbai, testing their ability to format personal details, career objective, qualifications, skills, and experience.

In subsection (Q5), students may be asked to describe the structure and significance of a thesis, including chapters, research components, review of literature, methodology, findings, and conclusion. The alternate question requires writing a proposal to request government subsidy for setting up a manufacturing unit, using invented details, testing practical business-communication writing skills such as persuasive tone and formal format.

The next subsection (Q6) evaluates interpersonal communication skills. One question asks students to explain context, feelings, intentions, behaviours, and giving & receiving feedback, linking these with communication competence and social awareness. The alternate question requires evaluating the significance of emotional intelligence in building trust through interpersonal communication—highlighting empathy, conflict resolution, relationship management, and self-regulation.

The final subsection (Q7) explores personality development theories. One question asks students to describe the five layers of human existence, referring to physical, mental, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual dimensions. The alternative asks students to evaluate the details and limitations of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs in personality development, discussing physiological, safety, social, esteem, and self-actualization needs, and how the model may lack cultural universality.

Overall, this exam paper provides a thorough and structured assessment of both theoretical and practical components of technical communication. It examines basic definitions, voice modulation, technical writing, business communication, interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, presentation skills, content creation, academic writing, and personality theories.
