(SEM IV) THEORY EXAMINATION 2022-23 TECHNICAL COMMUNICATION

SECTION A 

Section A contains short, theory-based questions that must be answered in brief descriptive paragraphs. These questions test your understanding of basic concepts in technical communication such as skimming, scanning, clarity, conciseness, gestures, intonation, reports, syllables, and communication barriers. Each answer should be around 4–5 lines, explaining the meaning, purpose, or importance of the concept.
Example questions added in this style include: Explain the role of feedback in communication in short. Another question could be: Describe the importance of audience analysis in technical communication. You may also get a small descriptive question like What is non-verbal communication? Explain briefly. These questions focus on fundamental understanding.

SECTION B 

Section B contains medium-length descriptive questions that require clear explanation in one detailed paragraph. These questions focus on deeper concepts such as communication process, encoding and decoding, presentation delivery, stage fright, categories of competence, and intonation. Answers should explain the topic, its components, and its relevance in professional communication.
Additional sample questions include: Discuss the qualities of an effective technical presenter in a descriptive paragraph. Another useful example is: Explain the importance of listening skills in business communication. A question like Describe the steps involved in writing a technical report is also common in this section. This portion tests conceptual depth and practical application.

SECTION C

Section C contains long descriptive questions that require a complete explanation of the topic in a well-structured paragraph. These questions involve broader ideas such as the features of technical communication, levels of communication, proposals, reports, paralinguistic strategies, body language, seminar structure, group discussion, and leadership qualities. Answers must describe the full concept in a connected paragraph, showing understanding and practical relevance.
Extra questions that fit this section include: Describe the importance of organizational communication levels with a suitable example. Another possible question is: Explain the structure and importance of a well-written proposal in technical workplaces. You may also see a question like Discuss the role of empathy and emotional intelligence in modern leadership. These questions check analytical thinking and writing ability.
