What is Productivity? Write any four symptoms of a bad plant layout.
Does forecasting get affected by period of prediction? Justify with examples.
What is Ergonomics? What is the transportation model, and where is it used?
Why is simulation needed? What do you mean by Assignment?
SECTION B – Medium-Length Questions (7 × 3 = 21 Marks)
Attempt any three of the following:
Write any four symptoms of a bad plant layout.
Explain Group Technology (GT) and compare process layout with GT layout using examples.
Why is proper selection of material handling equipment important? Explain principles of selection.
Why is Production Planning and Control (PPC) essential?
Explain Just-In-Time (JIT) manufacturing and its role in improving productivity.

a. Explain Material Requirement Planning (MRP) and discuss its structure. Also describe JIT manufacturing system.

Q6. Inventory Control & Queuing Models
a. Explain the importance of ABC Analysis in inventory control for large-scale organizations.

b. A garage has car arrivals at a rate of 6/hour, and service rate is 8/hour.

(i) Average queue length
(ii) Average waiting time
(Assume Poisson arrivals and exponential service)
