Section A – Short Answer Questions (2 × 10 = 20 Marks)
Answer all questions briefly:
What are the essential needs of CIM? What do you mean by Blobby Objects?
Differentiate between Analytic Surfaces and Synthetic Surfaces.
Explain the term Half Spaces. Differentiate between G Codes and M Codes.
What is the purpose of Canned Cycles?
State the main objectives of Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS).
What are the objectives of an MRP System (Material Requirement Planning)?
Define Stereolithography. Define Tessellation.
Section B – Descriptive Questions (10 × 3 = 30 Marks)
Attempt any three:
Explain the five levels of automation.
Illustrate the B-Rep (Boundary Representation) approach of solid modeling with an example.
List five important factors to consider while designing guideways.
Explain with a neat sketch the AS/RS (Automated Storage and Retrieval System) used in FMS.
Examine with a neat sketch the working principle of Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) process.
Section C – Long Answer Questions (10 × 5 = 50 Marks)

(b) With a block diagram, explain Retrieval-type and Generative-type Computer Aided Process Planning (CAPP).

(a) Compare SCARA Robot Configuration with other configurations.

(b) Classify the different types of Rapid Prototyping Techniques and explain the Stereolithography process with a neat sketch.
