Define mechatronic systems.                                         Explain the scope and applications of mechatronics.

Principle and working of an ultrasonic sensor.              Difference between sensor and transducer.

Physical components of a hydraulic system (with diagram).

Meaning of accumulator.                                               Definition and example of counters.

Selection criteria and applications of PLC.                     Working of automatic car parking system.

Working of engine management system.

Section B – Descriptive Questions (10×3 = 30 Marks)

Attempt any three:
 

Key components of a mechatronic system (block diagram).

Working, advantages, and disadvantages of LVDT.     Types of pressure control valves (with diagram).

Working of PLC and definition of scan cycle.              Operation of a bottling plant.

Section C – Detailed Answers (10×5 = 50 Marks)

Attempt any one question from each:

(a) Autotronics, Avionics, Bionics (with applications), or
(b) Control systems: types, elements, and examples.

(a) Static & dynamic characteristics of sensors, or
(b) Inductive proximity and Hall effect sensors.

(a) Working principles of 3-phase induction, stepper, and servo motors, or
(b) Pneumatic actuation system (with sketch).

(a) Timers in PLC ladder logic (example), or
(b) Latching or holding with ladder program.

(a) Case study on mechatronic system and pick-and-place robot, or
(b) Working of an automatic washing machine (block diagram).
