Section A — Short Answer Questions (2 × 10 = 20 Marks)
Answer all questions briefly:
Compare between Microprocessor and Microcontroller.
Explain the role of temporary registers in 8085.
Name the six operating modes of 8254.
List all the maskable and non-maskable interrupts of 8085.
Differentiate between Memory Mapped I/O and I/O Mapped peripheral interfacing techniques.
Explain Direct Memory Access (DMA).
State the function of RS1 and RS0 bits in the flag register of 8051 microcontroller.
Draw the flag register of 8085 showing the status of each flag.
List all the interrupts available in 8051.
Explain the difference between JMP and CALL instructions of 8085 microprocessor.
Section B — Descriptive Questions (10 × 3 = 30 Marks)
Attempt any three:
Explain the following instructions of 8085 with addressing mode, bytes, machine cycles, and T-states:

Explain the functional block diagram and working of 8257 DMA controller.
Design a system for 8085 with 4KB EPROM and 2KB RAM using suitable ICs and interfacing diagram.
Differentiate between POP and PUSH, CALL and RETURN instructions.
Explain the interrupts in 8051 and describe Interrupt Enable (IE) and Interrupt Priority (IP) registers.
Section C — Long Answer / Application-Based Questions (10 × 5 = 50 Marks)

(b) Design a hexadecimal up counter from 00H to FFH using 8085 (clock = 1 µs).

(b) Write an 8085 assembly program to find positive numbers from a set of 10 numbers.

(a) Explain the organization and working of 8255 PPI with block diagram.
(b) Describe the architecture of 8051 microcontroller with neat diagram.

(a) Draw and explain the architecture of 8086 microprocessor.
(b) Explain the various generations of microprocessors.
Q7:
(a) Explain the interfacing of DAC with 8051 and write a program to generate a sine wave output.
(b) Explain the addressing modes of 8051 microcontroller.
