SECTION A
(Attempt all questions in brief – 2 × 7 = 14 marks)
Q1 (a) Define the Tripartite Agreement.
A tripartite agreement is an agreement involving three parties, namely the government, employers, and workers or trade unions. It is used to resolve industrial disputes and to promote industrial harmony through mutual consultation and cooperation.
Q1 (b) Discuss principles of office system.
The principles of office system include proper division of work, standardization of procedures, effective communication, efficient record keeping, and coordination among departments. These principles help in smooth functioning of organizations.
Q1 (c) What do you mean by Industrialization?
Industrialization is the process of transformation from an agrarian economy to an industrial economy. It involves large-scale production, use of machines, technological advancement, and growth of industries.
Q1 (d) What are the different types of Grievances?
Grievances may be economic, related to wages and allowances; work environment grievances; managerial grievances; and grievances related to discipline and promotion. These arise due to dissatisfaction among workers.
Q1 (e) Define the term Industrial Tribunal.
An industrial tribunal is a judicial body established by the government to adjudicate industrial disputes between employers and employees. It plays a key role in maintaining industrial peace.
Q1 (f) What do you mean by lockout?
Lockout is a situation where employers temporarily close the workplace or suspend work to force workers to accept certain demands. It is a weapon used by employers during industrial disputes.
Q1 (g) What do you mean by Industrialization?
(As per paper wording, repeated concept)
Industrialization refers to the systematic development of industries, resulting in economic growth, urbanization, changes in social structure, and improvement in living standards.

Q2 (a) Define the nature of Industrial Sociology.
Industrial sociology is a branch of sociology that studies social relations, behavior, and institutions within industrial organizations. It focuses on workers, management, trade unions, industrial conflicts, and the impact of industrialization on society.
Q2 (b) Discuss the Martian & Guild system in detail.
The Martian system was an early form of industrial organization where workers were organized under masters and supervisors. The Guild system was prevalent in medieval Europe where craftsmen formed associations to regulate trade, training, quality, and working conditions. Both systems laid the foundation for modern industrial organization.
Q2 (c) Write a brief note on Science, Technology and Innovation Policy of India 2013.
The Science, Technology and Innovation Policy 2013 aimed to promote innovation-driven growth. It emphasized research and development, public-private partnerships, skill development, and commercialization of research to make India a knowledge-based economy.
Q2 (d) What is collective bargaining? Write down the importance of collective bargaining.
Collective bargaining is a process of negotiation between employers and workers’ representatives regarding wages, working conditions, and employment terms. It helps in resolving disputes, improving industrial relations, ensuring workers’ rights, and maintaining workplace harmony.
Q2 (e) Write down the use of studying sociology in the field of engineering.
Sociology helps engineers understand human behavior, social responsibility, teamwork, leadership, and ethical issues. It enables engineers to design technology that is socially acceptable and beneficial to society.
SECTION C
(Attempt any one part – 7 × 1 = 7 marks)
Q3 (a) Discuss Taylor’s view of Scientific Management.
Frederick W. Taylor introduced Scientific Management to improve industrial efficiency. According to Taylor, work should be scientifically analyzed and standardized. He emphasized time and motion study, proper selection and training of workers, cooperation between management and workers, and division of responsibility.
Taylor believed that scientific methods would increase productivity, reduce conflict, and benefit both employers and employees. Although criticized for ignoring human aspects, his ideas significantly influenced modern management practices.
