SECTION A
Attempt all questions in brief (2 × 7 = 14 marks)
(a) Explain the term ‘wisdom’ as described in this course.
In this course, wisdom refers to the clear understanding of reality as it is, rather than acting based on assumptions, beliefs, or social conditioning. Wisdom means knowing what is truly valuable for human beings, recognizing harmony at all levels of existence, and making decisions based on right understanding instead of temporary pleasure or fear.
(b) What are the two indefinite aspects of any unit?
The two indefinite aspects of any unit are quantity and space. Quantity refers to “how much” and space refers to “how much area or extent.” These aspects are indefinite because they can increase or decrease, while the essential nature of the unit remains unchanged.
(c) Explain the difference between knowing and assuming.
Knowing is based on understanding, verification, and realization through self-exploration. It leads to clarity and certainty. Assuming, on the other hand, is accepting something without verification, often based on tradition, social influence, or hearsay. Assumptions create confusion and contradictions, while knowing leads to confidence and harmony.
(d) Is there any material transaction involved between the Self and body? Explain briefly.
No, there is no material transaction between the Self and the body. The Self is conscious, while the body is physical. The interaction between them is in the form of understanding and feeling, not material exchange. The Self gives direction and meaning, while the body acts as an instrument.
(e) List the bases of tasting in the Self.
Tasting in the Self is based on desire, thought, and expectation. These determine whether an experience feels pleasant or unpleasant. Tasting is not dependent on physical sensation alone but on the internal state of the Self.
(f) Distinguish between ‘innateness’ and ‘natural characteristic’.
Innateness refers to that which is intrinsic and unchanging in a unit, such as the basic nature of the Self being happiness. Natural characteristic refers to the way a unit behaves when it is in harmony with its nature. Innateness remains constant, while natural characteristics are its expression.
(g) What is the meaning of ‘perseverance’ as described in this course?
Perseverance means continuous effort with commitment towards right understanding and right living. It is the ability to remain steady in the pursuit of harmony and values despite difficulties, distractions, or challenges.
SECTION B
Attempt any three (7 × 3 = 21 marks)
(a) What is the process of knowing as described in the course? Explain in detail.
The process of knowing begins with self-exploration, where a person observes thoughts, desires, and assumptions. This is followed by verification on the basis of natural acceptance, checking whether something feels right universally and continuously. Finally, realization takes place when understanding becomes experiential and is reflected in behavior. This process helps eliminate confusion and leads to harmony.
(b) Activities of the ‘dimension of thought’ and their interrelation with an example.
The dimension of thought includes activities such as desire, thought, expectation, evaluation, and selection. These activities are interconnected. For example, if a person desires respect, thoughts revolve around how to gain it, expectations are formed from others, evaluation happens when expectations are met or not, and actions are chosen accordingly. Lack of right understanding in any activity disturbs the whole chain.
(c) Three sources of imagination. Which is continuous? Analyze the problem with the other two.
The three sources of imagination are preconditioning, sensory input, and natural acceptance. Natural acceptance is continuous and universal. Problems arise when imagination is dominated by preconditioning or sensory input, leading to temporary pleasure, comparison, and dissatisfaction. Natural acceptance alone leads to lasting harmony.
(d) “Existence is Co-existence.” Explain the statement.
Existence is Co-existence means that nothing exists in isolation. Everything in nature exists in mutual relationship and harmony with others. Humans, society, nature, and the environment are interconnected. Understanding this helps us live responsibly, sustainably, and peacefully instead of exploiting others.
(e) Prevalent problems in industry and role of awakening in the dimension of realization.
Common industrial problems include stress, exploitation, lack of trust, environmental damage, and unethical practices. Awakening in the dimension of realization helps individuals see long-term consequences, value human dignity, and prioritize harmony over profit alone. This leads to ethical leadership, cooperation, and sustainable growth.
SECTION C
Attempt any one (7 marks)
(a) “Happiness is definite and the same for all.” Evaluate the statement.
Happiness is definite because it arises from harmony within the Self, not from external conditions. It is the same for all because every human being naturally wants continuous happiness. Differences arise due to misunderstanding, not because happiness itself differs. True happiness comes from right understanding, not material accumulation.
(b) Needs of Self and body and evaluation of current living style. Solution?
The Self needs happiness, peace, and meaning, while the body needs physical facilities such as food and shelter. Modern society overemphasizes bodily needs, leading to stress and dissatisfaction. The solution lies in correct priority—fulfilling bodily needs adequately while focusing primarily on Self-understanding and relationships.
