UNDERSTANDING THE HUMAN BEING COMPREHENSIVELY
Human Aspirations and Its Fulfillment – KOE069
SECTION A
(Attempt all questions in brief – 2 marks each)
(a) Sensation of Prosperity and Happiness
The sensation of prosperity arises when a person feels that their physical needs are adequately met. This sense of sufficiency reduces fear and insecurity, allowing happiness to become continuous rather than momentary. True happiness comes not from excess accumulation but from the assurance that needs can be fulfilled.
(b) Human Consciousness
Human consciousness is the ability of the Self to know, understand, and evaluate. It enables awareness of thoughts, feelings, values, and actions, distinguishing humans from purely material entities.
(c) Three Realities for a Fulfilling Life
The three realities to be understood are the Self, the Body, and Existence as a whole. Understanding their nature and relationship leads to harmony within the individual and with the world.
(d) Content of Realization
Realization involves the clear understanding of the Self, its relationship with the body, and its participation in the larger existence. It leads to clarity in living and right conduct.
(e) Communication Between Self and Body
Communication between the Self and the body happens through feelings, sensations, and actions. The Self gives direction through understanding, while the body responds through physical activity.
(f) Conscious vs Material Unit
A conscious unit (Self) has awareness, intention, and understanding, whereas a material unit (body) follows physical laws without awareness. The Self guides, while the body executes.
(g) Four Dimensions of Human Being
The four dimensions are Individual, Family, Society, and Nature/Existence. Harmony in all four ensures holistic fulfillment.
(h) Submergence
Submergence refers to being overwhelmed by sensations, emotions, or external influences, leading to loss of clarity and self-control.
(i) Wisdom in This Course
Wisdom is the ability to see reality as it is, leading to right understanding, right feelings, and right actions in life.
(j) Gratitude (Kritagyata) and Self-Restraint (Sunyata)
Gratitude reflects self-restraint because it arises from contentment and recognition of what is already received, reducing greed and excessive desire.
SECTION B
(Attempt any three – 10 marks each)
2(a) Right Understanding and Fulfillment of Human Aspirations
Right understanding helps distinguish between temporary pleasures and lasting happiness. It enables individuals to align desires with natural acceptance, leading to harmony, trust, and sustainable fulfillment. It plays a crucial role in personal growth by guiding ethical conduct and balanced living.
2(b) Role of Self-Awareness and Introspection
Self-awareness allows individuals to observe their thoughts, feelings, and actions. Introspection helps evaluate whether these align with human values. Together, they improve conduct, relationships, and contribution to existence.
2(c) Cultivating Harmony Within Oneself
Harmony is cultivated by aligning actions with values such as truth, respect, and responsibility. When thoughts, feelings, and actions are in coherence, inner conflict reduces and well-being increases.
2(d) Awakening to Activities of the Self
Awakening to the Self involves recognizing inner intentions, desires, and evaluations, unlike external awareness which focuses on sensory objects. This inner awakening leads to self-regulation and purposeful living.
2(e) Participation in the Larger Order
Participation in the larger order involves recognizing one’s role in family, society, and nature. Conscious participation promotes harmony at all levels and ensures sustainable coexistence.
SECTION C
3(a) Application of Resolution Principles for Holistic Well-Being
Resolution principles guide individuals to live with clarity, responsibility, and balance. They help maintain physical health through proper care of the body, mental health through clarity of thought, and emotional health through trust and respect in relationships.
3(b) Resolution Principles in Real-Life Situations
For example, workplace conflicts are resolved through dialogue based on mutual respect rather than competition. In families, understanding replaces domination, leading to lasting harmony and cooperation.
